The African Women in Animal Resources Farming and Agribusiness Network (AWARFA-N) Nigeria is the Nigerian Chapter of the African Women in Animal Resources Farming and Agribusiness Network (AWARFA-N).
AWARFA-N was established by the African Union Inter African Bureau for Animal Resources in Cairo, Egypt, July 2018. AWARFA-N Nigeria is fully registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission and has membership over 2800 women from different women groups. The members cut across the different value chains such as; Dairy, Poultry, Aquaculture, Apiculture, Small Ruminants, Piggery and related crops that serve as raw materials for animal feed.Â
Our objective is to identify investment opportunities for women-led enterprises in Livestock, Fisheries, Aquaculture and Apiculture value chains. We also intend to support the creation of women-led business fora on animal resources that will drive advocacy and lobbying for greater policy, institutional and financial support for women in the animal resources sector.

Women form the back bone of livestock value chains in Nigeria, although often as unremunerated subsistent family workers with low productivity levels. Women have predominantly been the key players in the informal marketing and sale of Livestock and animal products. Despite their important role in animal resources value chains, women face several constraints which limit their full participation in these value chains which this unique platform was created to address.
